The Green Giant, or as they are known Sharp Manufacturing Co. is now the largest generator of solar energy in all of Shelby County. After their recent installment and activation of nearly 1,174 solar panels, they have now doubled the amount of solar energy they can provide locally. Keep in mind that they also produce solar panels for many other states and companies, in fact in 2010 Sharp Manufacturing Co. reached their 2,000,000 solar panels sold mark.

One noted fact about Sharp Manufacturing Co.
The Sharp facility was not established to make solar panels. It was established in 1978 to make color television sets but switched to solar-panel production in 2003.
