Extreme Couponing: Addiction or Economical?

Many people are used to high food prices, long lines, lugging all your bags from cart, to car, to house while grocery shopping. But a new type of shoppers are turning a mundane activity into a sport.

Dale North has had a 22 foot receipt print out and a bill totaling more than $2000. Dale North considers himself an extreme couponer and he resides  in North Myrtle Beach. North told WMBF News “It takes time, but once you have everything organized, it’s just bam bam bam.  It really becomes fun, It’s just like anything, the beginning stages are aggravating but once you get it, it’s a lot of fun.”

North starts with the coupon packs he receives in the Sunday paper.  If there’s a good coupon that he like, he ventures online to order more.  At night he starts his ritual of cutting and matching offers to the weekly sale in the papers.  He also makes it a habit to print off online coupons, especially the ones that come right from the manufacturer.

North says a good way to start is to check the company’s website and also look for a Facebook page, if you find a product you liked. (Photo Credit: dmdonahoo)
