Is The United States Funding Its Own Enemies in Afghanistan?

This CNN Headline was all I needed to read before my senses were peaked and i was becoming increasingly curious as to the truth behind the shock value:

Washington (CNN) – A new report confirms suspicions that U.S. taxpayer money for projects in Afghanistan may be diverted to extremists killing American troops.

After reading a little more, I realized that a lot of the problems arising over where the money is going originate in a lack of structure and organization.  In other words, the money is getting into the right hands, but after that it can’t be tracked to PREVENT the money from ending up in the hands of terrorists.  But to say that we are funding terrorists is a little off the deep end, and quite frankly it doesn’t and isn’t possible; because supposedly its really hard to find the people that we are stating are most at risk.  For example, before the Navy Seals team killed Osama Bin Laden, there were all types of allegations that we were funding Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations in the Middle East.  But the truth behind all of that in my perspective is simply overlooked.  We are pulling our troops out  of these countries, so there is a natural tendency to go back to “Bad habits” and that is exactly what we are seeing.  We are giving them their freedom whether or not they like it or not (whether you agree with it or not) and leaving them to sort of “figure it all out”; deep down hoping and praying that they can grow, build and maintain.  I think we need to focus on really aiding and helping establish these countries if we really want to make a Global Good difference.  (Photo Credit: Remko Tanis)
