North Korea Ready For Six-Party Nuclear Talks To Resume
North Korea says it is ready and willing to resume six-party talks about its nuclear program “at an early date” and “without preconditions”. The last six-party talks involving North and South Korea, the US, Russia, China and Japan were held in late 2008.
North Korea’s statement came after two days of talks between the US and North Korean representatives in New York. North Korea claims that their government is ready to fulfill all the commitments it signed up for in 2005 in exchange for energy and economic aid.
North Korea had pulled out of the six-party talks in April 2009, shortly after that the small country carried out their second nuclear test. US official claim that the path was open to better relations with North Korea, if the country was really committed to stopping its nuclear program for good.
