Top Ten Things To See In Denmark

Known as the historical and spiritual home of the Vikings as well as being the land of Hans Christian Andersen, Denmark is one of the most beautiful and inspiring destinations in the world. If you are lucky enough to get the chance to visit, here are the top ten things to make sure you see:

Copenhagen. The capital of Denmark, Copenhagen must sees include a visit to the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Center, the Opera House, the amazing Absolut Ice Bar (made of ice), and the zoo. Copenhagen is a walking and bicycling city which makes it a delight to tour around.

Legoland. Wow. An entire theme park dedicated to Lego. Your children will love this. There is even a super cool Legoland Hotel to please children of all ages!

The Crown Jewels. An impressive collection of the Royal Family’s Crown Jewels is on display in Rosenborg Castle in Copenhagen in the basement of the castle. These are serious jewels of amazing size, some of which are mounted within priceless art pieces.

Safari Park. Located in Maribo, the Knuthenborg Safaripark is treasured and unique because wild animals are allowed to wander freely without being confined to cages. If you wish, take a guided tour. Or simply tour on your own to see zebras, monkeys, rhinos, colorful parrots, and giraffes. It is in a breathtaking setting

Nyhaven. You will never forget the brilliant colors of the houses in Nyhaven. Mustard yellow. Blueberry blue. Orange orange. Mint green. This is one of the most beautiful sights in Denmark. Walk along the Harbor Canal, take one of the little tour boats on the canal.

The Little Mermaid. This adorable little statue depicting the mermaid written about by Hans Christian Andersen is much smaller than you imagined when you see her. But for that reason she is just perfect, small and wistful, while she sits demurely gazing out to sea.

Tivoli Gardens. More a garden and restaurant venue than an amusement park, there are still rides to take, entertainment, and fireworks at night that light up the sky, which in the summer does not darken until after 10 PM.

Royal Copenhagen Factory. Come here not only to purchase Royal Copenhagen Porcelain, but purchase it at a very good price. This factory outlet is a must stop for shoppers looking for a good bargain.

Aarhus. An ancient city, Aarhus houses an important Viking museum called Forhistorisk Museum Moesgard which is an excellent destination for families traveling with children. Great displays and the ever popular Bog Man to see!

Lalandia. This extensive playland includes golf, a beach, ice skating rink, swimming areas, water rides, entertainment and tons of restaurants. You might want to plan taking the family for at least a couple of days to thoroughly enjoy it.
