The above mentioned schools average roughly $47,210 per school year.  Multiply this cost for all three years of attendance and you’re looking at over $140,000 for just your law degree.  This cost doesn’t keep into consideration your text books, school fees or any of your living arrangements.   I’m not telling you that you should select your law school strictly from a price point but in comparison look at these 5 law schools that are significantly cheaper and are still ranked routinely in the list of top 100 law schools.

1. Brigham Young University, Provo, UT – $20,560 per year.
2. University of Tulsa, Tulsa, OK – $30,644 per year.
3. Willamette University, Salem, OR – $31,050 per year.
4. Michigan State University, East Lansing MI – $33,000 per year
5. University of Richmond, Richmond, VA – $34,000 per year.

These schools average about $30,000 a year which comes to a much cheaper law degree at $90,000.  Now there is certain non monetary value to having a law degree from Harvard or Yale but the schools mentioned above are extremely good too.  As mentioned before these schools are routinely in the top 100 law school lists.  At a $50,000 discount you may want to consider all your options.

Law School Isn’t Cheap – Make Sure You Do Your Research.
Law school isn’t cheap and your selection process should not come down to strictly the money.  But given everything the same you may want to take advantage of graduating and starting your first legal job with a little less debt to your name.   Remember that your goal is to become a lawyer and there are many institutes that do a fantastic job of preparing you for this journey.
