Wax Cars Like An Expert In 3 Easy Steps

Although many people own a car, not many know how to wax a car. If you like to keep your car looks shiny most of the time and looks new even after many years, learning professional waxing techniques is very important. Here are 3 easy steps you can start waxing your car like a professional detailer right now:

Step 1: Cleaning

If you carefully observe most tutorials on car waxing, you will realize that most of them missed out this step. Cleaning is the most important step if you want to make your car shine. Waxing does not make your car shine. It merely enhances the original color of the car and protects the car surface. Good cleaning techniques will remove all the contaminants that are making a car look old and dirt.

If you are using the right tools and techniques to clean your car, cleaning alone will make your car looks much better. For cleaning, I highly recommend hand car wash with a good car wash shampoo, wash mitt, microfiber cloth, clay bar and liquid cleaning wax. After cleaning, drying is a must. Without good drying with microfiber cloth, you will see ugly water spots on your car after few months.

Step 2: Application

Once your car is cleaned, it is time to apply some the best auto wax to enhance its color and protect the car surface. Do NOT apply any wax before the car is clean. Applying wax on a dirty car is just like wrapping your car together with all the dirt with a layer of plastic. It doesn’t make your car looks better and it is a waste.

When it comes to waxing, I highly recommend using hand because it is cheap, safe and convenient. You can use polisher if you are an experienced detailer. When you apply your car wax with the foam applicator pad, always remember ‘Less is More’. Do not apply a thick layer of wax. Just apply very little at a time and spread it across the car body. Draw tiny circular motion while you are applying wax.

Step 3: Buffing

After finishing application, start buffing off the residue with a microfiber cloth. Before you start waxing, read the manufacturer’s instruction to know how long it takes the wax to dry and when you should start buffing. Just gently wipe off the white residue when it is dry. If you did not apply too much wax in the previous step, this step should be quite easy.

If you are a lazy person, choose polymer sealant for waxing because the protection could last up to 3 months. If your car is dark colored such as red or black, apply another layer of carnauba wax to improve the appearance of the car and hide some of the paint imperfections. Waxing is not hard at all. You can finish everything within 3 steps. Take your first step and enjoy the process. Spend more than half of your time on step 1 because it is simply too important to clean your car.
