5 Best Queensland Beaches
The difficulty in finding a beach in Queensland isn’t finding a beach, but narrowing down the list of incredible beaches available to visit. There are literally hundreds of spots in the area where you can set up a blanket and enjoy the day, so you can waste hours trying to figure out which one to visit if you don’t have any good recommendations. Well if you cut your list down to these five, then you’re guaranteed a beautiful day at the beach and you won’t have to spend all day finding it. You could throw a dart at this list:
Surfers Paradise
They don’t call it Surfers Paradise for nothing. This beach along the Pacific Ocean has some of the best surfing conditions in the world. It’s one of the most frequently visited beaches in the area which means that it can be crowded, but its popularity also lets you know how amazing it is.
Boyd’s Bay
Anywhere along the Gulf of Carpentaria will make a great place to spend the day if you want scenic beauty, and Boyd’s Bay isn’t a bad place to start with its white sands and crystal waters. Not many tourists know about this part of the country so you can get mile long stretches of the beach to yourself. A real Outback location, the Gulf of Carpentaria is a feast for the eyes.
Torres Strait
The Torres Strait is a narrow channel that is absolutely filled with small islands. For obvious reasons, accessibility is tricky here and not all parts of the area are open to tourists, but if you can get in, you will see stunning vistas and beautiful white sands. It varies as to which islands will be accessible when you visit, but you can’t go wrong on any of them.
Turtle Bay
This is perhaps the best spot to see the Coral Sea, the tropical zone can be found stretching from MacKay to Cooktown. The calm, warm water is great for swimming and fishing here cannot be beat. If you really want to make the most out of a Queensland beach trip, see if you can charter or rent a boat and take a swimming and fishing trip here.
Coolangatta
While Coolangatta is far from secluded, this holiday town is basically one big beach party all year round. Great surfing, friendly people and beautiful fishing spots, you’ll find Coolangatta about a half an hour from Surfers Paradise.
The beaches in Queensland really have something for everyone. Whether you want to hit the white sands and do some surfing or snap some beautiful photos on a clear blue day on some lonesome Outback beach, Queensland has you covered. If you can’t make up your mind, you really can visit any of these beaches at random and still have a beautiful day, and of course, given the relatively close proximity they have to one another, there’s no reason not to visit all five in a single trip while you’re enjoying your time down under.
