Alternative Uses for Golf Carts

Most of us drive less than 15 miles per day and travel less than 5 miles from our home. And with climbing gas prices, these numbers are sure to decrease as we opt for public transportation or riding bikes. Not to mention the large of amounts of gas emissions that spew into the atmosphere.
With all this in mind, it isn’t surprising that an eco-friendly, finance-friendly alternative to our gas-guzzling SUVs is golf carts. Since most of us only travel only to work and back home with the occasional trip to the grocery store, a golf cart would be a great alternative.
Many golf carts seats four people, so there’s plenty of room for the spouse and grocery bags. Even a two-seater allows room for extra bags in the back. This will save plenty of green with gas as well as it’s a green way of transportation. It costs only about 1 cent per 10 miles for an electric golf cart. It’s also much cheaper to maintain and service a golf cart compared to a vehicle.
Many homes in neighborhoods that are surrounded by golf courses utilize carts everyday to get from place to place such as movie theaters, malls, restaurants, schools, etc.
Carts can be used at the home too. Especially for yard work, golf carts can maneuver on many different terrains–dirt, sidewalks, mud, grass, streets and more. If you have a garden on your property, a cart will come in handy for moving new vegetables from the outside to the kitchen or moving all the gardening tools place to place.
Golf Carts Can Be Used in Many Situations
Alternative uses for carts don’t stop at just home uses, many other people and businesses could also benefit from the use of golf carts.
Universities have been using golf carts for quite some time now. Driving a cart around the twisty and narrow turns on a campus is much easier and safer (for both the driver and students) than driving a full size truck or sedan.
On camping grounds, golf carts can prove once again their versatility. They can be used to conquer the tough terrain while getting heavy and bulky camping equipment around to campsite to campsite. Not only can you use the cart for transporting gear, but with the maximum speed of about 15 miles per hour, you’ll also be able to enjoy the pristine scenery of your campsite.
Another area that golf carts could be utilized is in nursing home facilities. In cases where an elderly man or woman needs to get to a close by doctor’s office or pharmacy, it’s a safe and easy way to get them where they need to go.
And if running errands or using the cart on the boring, paved roads doesn’t seem fitting for your life style, you could also use golf carts for some off-trail riding. Though you may need to upgrade the cart’s wheels to ones that have a deeper tread to ensure they can handle the difficult landscape.
So as you can see, golf carts aren’t just for use on the golf course anymore. Their compact sizes, eco-friendly, financially savvy nature of carts can fit just about any need and lifestyle.
