Authorities say at least 13 people have died and 11 more have been reported missing after a boat capsized Sunday in a southern India lake.

So far only three people have survived the accident on Pulicat Lake, about 36 miles north of Chennai.

V. Vanitha, senior superintendent of police in Thiruvallur district, said the private boat was on a pleasure trip when the tragic accident happened.

According to officials, local fishermen were assisting divers and crews in the rescue and search mission.
