Francesco Schettino the infamous captain of the Cruise liner Concordia that sank after running aground last week is now making an even bigger ass of himself by claiming that he had fallen into a lifeboat and did not ‘abandon ship’ as was apparent from the communication between himself and the coast guard. Unfortunately a few people have lost their lives and the rescuers are still looking for any more survivors or bodies on the ship, while the Captain is on shore awaiting trial for his crimes.
In addition to abandoning ship, the captain is also accused of manslaughter, negligence, and failure to comply; all of which seem like fitting crimes for the amount of devastation and loss of property throughout this whole ordeal.
Although compared to the Titanic disaster, the Concordia running aground actually allowed many passengers to escape or be rescued fairly quickly although the crew and captain could have been more alert and attentive to the severity of the situation.
We will continue to keep you updated on the most recent news on the Concordia and it’s EX-Captain Francesco Schettino. Please see more video footage below and be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments section at the very bottom.
