With so many great artists out there and so little time to see them sometimes it’s easy to rush through the buying process without taking proper precautions. It’s easy to fall victim to a scam website or a dodgy seller and such a simple mistake can ruin the night-out or holiday you’ve been planning for months. However there are ways to guarantee you’re buying from a safe seller so read on to check you’ll be doing just that.
- Buy from the brand / artist’s official website.
This pretty much assures you that the tickets are legit and is without doubt the best method of purchasing tickets. The only downfall to this method however is that tickets directly from the source may sell out fast, so it might be worth researching the release date of tickets and when they go on sale, so you can get there first.
- Buy directly from the venue.
Buying tickets directly from the venue is another great way to assure the tickets are legit. The venue will often reserve a certain percentage of tickets to sell directly to people like you, so either give them a call, visit their website or visit them in person.
- Check out Official ticket websites.
Ticket websites such as Ticketmaster.co.uk, are very reliable and offer online protection on payments – so your tickets and the delivery of the tickets are all recorded for. Ticketmaster now sell a huge range of tickets too, from tiny gigs at local venues to big gigs at venues such as the O2 arena, so it’s a fantastic website to frequent and add to your bookmarks.
- Ebay.
Buying off Ebay is a great way to find tickets at a reduced price – if you’re savvy. When buying off Ebay an important thing to remember is that the person selling will have a ratings score, based on their previous sales. Before you commit to buying anything – make sure you’ve checked this rating score. If it’s low then it’s probably best to steer clear and find either another Ebay seller or find another website (such as the ones mentioned above).
The afore mentioned are the best ways to obtain tickets to a gig. Any other method is less likely to be legit: such as street sellers or random listings on forums. Always remember the following: If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is. It might feel good in the moment, saving yourself a bit of cash but it won’t feel good when you get turned away at the door because your tickets are fakes. Just ask yourself, is it worth the gamble?
