Solar Flare causes a Solar Storm That is Said To Hit Earth This Morning
According to multiple reports, there was the largest solar radiation outburst in 6 years and it is causing a high-energy particle blast that is headed directly towards earth this Tuesday morning. The main effects will be seen with satellite operators and in the North Pole region.
The blast is serious enough to where flights have been rerouted that come close to the North Pole region as well as a general warning to those businesses that heavily rely on GPS and other communication systems.
According to Doug Biesecker, a physicist working at the Space Weather Prediction Center:
With the radiation storm in progress now, satellite operators could be experiencing trouble, and there are probably impacts as well to high frequency [radio] communications in polar regions.
