Rangers Outfielder Josh Hamilton Had Relapse In His Struggle With Addiction
Rangers Outfielder Josh Hamilton took a step back in his sobriety when he recently had a couple drinks of alcohol at a Dallas area bar. The Dallas Morning News reported Thursday night that “individuals familiar with the episode,” reported Hamilton was drinking at a Dallas-area bar on Monday. The Rangers organization issued a statement to the newspaper that they were “aware of a situation, but we don’t have further comment at this time.”
Hamilton has had a very long and public battle with drug and alcohol abuse, and has even been suspended for more than three years for drug and alcohol use while in the Tampa Bay organization. He missed two complete season of Baseball and finally won the AL MVP in 2010. This recent incident is the second time Hamilton relapsed in three years. In January, 2009, he got drunk in a bar in Tempe, Ariz. Before that, Hamilton said he hadn’t taken a drink of alcohol since Oct. 6, 2005.
