BOGO Sales
Many shops will offer “BOGO” (Buy One Get One) deals where you can buy one get one free. By buying one of something, you can have an additional one, typically of the same or lesser value. This is a great time to stock up on stuff you love and use often.
BOGO Sales Tips:
• Some deals offer the ability to add coupons to BOGO deals. Some don’t. Ask for the fine print on the deal so you can maximise it.
• If you really love something that’s a basic and a classic style, buy two. Otherwise, consider buying something in multiple colours or buying different styles.
• Shop for family and friends for upcoming holidays. A BOGO sale isn’t just good for you, it’s great for getting Christmas shopping done early and saving money on gifts!
• Missed a recent retail BOGO sale by just a few days and regret not waiting to buy something? If the item still has the tags, consider returning it and then shopping again. Some stores will offer ‘price protection’, allowing you to show a receipt for a recent purchase, too, meaning you won’t have to do a return in order to take advantage of a sale.
• Some retailers have annual BOGO sales. Set some money aside for these so you can take advantage and stock up.
Shop the Clearance Section
Clearance sales are a great time for stocking up on basics and saving money. Some clearance sales are really big with huge discounts. Shop at the end of the season for next year’s winter clothes or summer clothes. Stock up on socks, underwear, stockings and tights, and so on when you see sales, too. Always check the clearance section of your favourite stores and of your favourite websites, too, as many shops have ongoing clear-outs for overstock and to make room for next season’s clothing.
Clubs & Discount Codes
There are shopping clubs that can offer great discounts to you to help you save money. There are also great websites and forums where members share information about great discounts and sales. Watch for these and you can save a lot of money.
Newsletter Signups
Signing up for your favourite store’s newsletter, for instance, might earn you a discount code for your favourite retailer and can get you ongoing notifications of sales and discounts as well as special exclusive offers.

Adding that discount code or coupon to a clearance item or during a major sale is the stuff that “Extreme Couponing” is made of and is how people save substantially.
