Brand New “Hunger Games” Trailer Finally Released
The Hunger Games, the first of four upcoming films based on Suzanne Collins’ bestselling young adult book series, will finally open up in theaters and IMAX on March 23. Lionsgate knows that the movie will be coming out in 50 days, and they have released a brand new trailer to fuel the hype for the upcoming movie. The new trailer runs a little over a minute in length, and features previously released footage with never before seen scenes mixed in.
The new trailer starts with Katniss (Jennifer) bonding with her sister Primrose (Willow Shields) by handing her the Mockingjay pin for protection. As the trailer goes on to show, the protection Primrose needs will come from the ultimate sacrifice of Katniss. As the trailer moves to the Capitol, there are several new shots of Katniss, as she and her fellow selected Tributes are paraded around prior to the deadly games commencing. In speaking with Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Katniss says she can’t afford to think the way he does, that if his fate of death is already decided, he wants to die being himself and not who the Capitol wants him to be.
The only actual games footage is limited to a shot of the Tributes running out the gate into the arena, and Katniss being startled by a flaming, falling tree. Both scenes were featured in previous clips and teasers, so almost all of the actual games combat portion of the film will be all-new when the film finally arrives.
