Josh Hamilton Apologizes For Alcohol Relapse, Forces MLB To Get Involved
During a news conference with a couple reporters, Texas Rangers outfielder and recovering drug addict Josh Hamilton admitted that he had a relapse in his fight against alcohol. Hamilton told reporters the relapse started with “three or four” drinks during dinner in Dallas and then had more drinks later that evening. He finished the conference up by publicly apologizing without taking any questions about what transpired that night, saying he had a “weak moment” that stemmed from “personal reasons” involving a family member.
Hamilton was suspended for more than three years for drug and alcohol use while in the Tampa Bay organization. The former No. 1 overall draft pick missed the entire 2004 and 2005 seasons, but has become one of the best players in baseball on a team that has won the last two American League pennants. He was the AL MVP in 2010.
