A 32 year old mystery was finally concluded today now that a coroner has officially concluded that a dingo, or wild dog, took 9 week old Azaria Chamberlary from her parents tent in the Australian Outback back in 1980. In the 4th inquest into a case that has divided Australians and attracted global attention, including a film version of the story starring Meryl Streep, the corner reviewed new evidence and concluded that a wild dog was responsible for the child’s death.
The very first inquest had also ruled death by dingo but was later overruled by a second inquest that found that the mother was responsible for the child’s death and tried to cover it up, resulting in a prison sentence until 1986 when a third inquest was unable to determine a cause of death.
