New online platforms, digital tools, and tablets help drive education at home

Palomar K12San Diego, CA – New online platforms, digital tools, and tablets are helping to drive the growth of homeschooling. One such resource is Palomar K12, an online platform and curriculum for students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Palomar K12 offers over 16,000 lessons, quizzes, and tests with 7 standard courses including Reading/Literature, Language Arts, Math, History/Social Studies, Science, Visual/Performing Arts, and Physical Education all aligned with state standards.

Homeschooling is currently growing at about 10 percent annually. Dr. Brian Ray from NHERI.org (National Home Education Research Institute) states “expect to observe a notable surge in the number of children being homeschooled in the next 5 to 10 years.” The rise would be in terms of both absolute numbers and percentage of the K to 12 student population.

Sheri Wells, founder of Palomar K12 says, “A paradigm shift is happening right now in K12 education as students migrate from the classroom to the home.
