Dallas Cowboys Pass On Donovan McNabb

After a terrible performance in Sunday’s game against the Falcons, Donovan McNabb has been released by the Vikings. The veteran player has had only one win in six games, and barely completed more than sixty percent of his passes with four touchdown passes to two interceptions. Many had expected McNabb to rebound and become an elite quarterback once again, but after this season its hard to see him playing in the NFL again.

To add insult to injury, the Dallas Cowboys have come forward and said they will not claim Donovan off waivers. Many had believed the Cowboys would pick McNabb up because their back up quarterback, Jon Kitna, is still recovering from a back injury. Sage Rosenfels was also one of the names being tossed around after getting released by the Miami Dolphins, but the Cowboys have not expressed any interest in him either. Cowboys coach Jason Garret briefly talked about McNabb and Rosenfels before the start of Friday practice saying “Obviously we’ve competed against Donovan a lot when he was a quarterback for the Eagles and he’s been a great player for a long, long time and the same thing with Sage, in a different role. He’s been a veteran player who has played for 10 to 12 years now and really done a nice job with the role he has been in. But right now, we’re going to just stand pat with where we are when we evaluate our quarterback situation.” For now it looks like the McNabb era is over.
