How to Pack For Your Next Fishing Trip

You must be wondering how relevant this article is. All you are doing is planning for an upcoming fishing trip to a great location along with your best buddies. Since you are traveling oversees and with all the heightened security and stricter luggage requirements at the airlines, travel has become a tad bit bothersome. This article highlights a few considerations and tips that you can follow so that you don’t have to go through all uncalled for situations. Now, things are different, you cannot possibly walk aboard with a suspicious looking tackle box, few 5 feet rod cases, and a heavy bag full of reels.

The trick is to be organized about what and how you are packing. You have to remember that your baggage will be checked and searched quite a lot. So you need to pack smart. It is best to ditch your tubes that your rods come in. They are definitely sturdy but they are also heavy and take up a lot of space. Instead, pack them in the modern angling luggage you get that have a stiff bottom compartment. You can stuff things in the outside pockets. Also roll an extra duffel bag in, you might just buy something and need a bag to put carry it home.

Pack your personal items like a camera, tickets, passports, eyewear, earplugs, medicines or I-pod. This bag will be with you as a cabin baggage so it fits the overhead luggage compartments. When it comes to your fishing tackle it is a good idea to remove the treble hooks and pack the hook less lures in a plastic bag and the hooks in a small bag; it will also not take up a lot of place. Packing your reels in Tupperware containers or old camera padded camera covers is a smart idea.

A good idea is to pack your clothes in big zip lock bags. You can neatly fold your shirts and individually pack them in these zip lock bags. In another such bag pack your pants and trousers and in keep another for your socks and essentials. This way, it takes up less space, the security can see through the bags and you also get the nicely ironed clothes even in your trips. If you are carrying woolens, get separate duffel bags and heavy garbage bags for your wet and dirty clothes.

What all things you will need actually depends on the fishing spot you are going to. But remember to make several copies of your passport’s front two pages and keep them in different bags. Make sure that have checked the first three letter destination that the agent puts on your bags match to where you are headed! Wear a pair of shoes that is easy to slip on and off because you will have to go through the security a number of times. You can also pack your things in backpacks or luggage with wheels.

These above mentioned points will surely make for your upcoming fishing trip much easier and convenient. Just don’t start packing at the 11th hour, take some time to carefully pack all that you need and leave the excess stuffs out, leave them at home. Have a lovely trip.
