Tom and Ray Magliozzi saddened fans around the country today announcing that they plan to retire from their exceptionally popular radio talk show. “Car Talk has been an NPR standard for decades, popular as much for the brothers banter as for their car expertise and advice. Tom, 75 and younger brother Ray, 63 have been hosting “Car Talk” since it first debuted in Boston back in 1977. Ten years later the show was picked up by Nation Public Radio allowing the brothers to endear themselves to a national audience.
NPR announced that they will continue to air “Car Talk” featuring some of the very best of the 1,200 episodes they’ve recorded over the years and brothers Tom and Ray will continue to occasionally pop in for special appearances.
