Best Places For Breakfast In London

The English are famous for their traditional “English Breakfast” consisting of fried eggs, fried ham, fried sausages, with roasted tomatoes, baked beans, mushrooms, and fried bread on the side. If you don’t want to sit down to breakfast, you can drop into breakfast places to take out a bacon sandwich or a warm pasty to walk around with. The choices are plentiful. Here is a list of the best places in London for you to start with.

The Breakfast Club serves breakfast every day from 9 AM until 5 PM. It is super casual serving a large portion of English Breakfast, pancakes, eggs benedict, porridge, hash browns, french toast, wraps and breakfast sandwiches. If you want the most choices for breakfast, this is your place.

Le Pain Quotidien is Belgian owned serving breakfast items including soft boiled eggs and toast soldiers, cafe au lait, and superb pastries. Sit at the long communal table and you might make some new friends over coffee.

The Diner is a re-enactment of a classic American diner. It has all the normal breakfast items you would expect to find in any city in America. Try the eggs with smoked salmon, breakfast burrito, rodeo omelette, or blueberry pancakes.

For a breakfast you can walk about with, head for West Cornwall Pasty Company for the best Cornish pasty you will ever have. They are little pastry pockets filled with meat and potatoes, mushrooms and chicken, and other lovely delights. Ask them to warm one up for you before you leave with it. They are best eaten warm.

Harrods Department Store does not open until 10 AM (Sunday 11:30 AM), however if you can wait that long, the Terrace Bar on the fourth floor serves breakfast in an elegant dining room. It is expensive but it is a huge treat.

Fortnum and Mason department store has The Fountain Restaurant which serves a breakfast menu from 7:30 AM. This also is quite expensive, but you will be rewarded with excellent food. Try the traditional English kippers, smoked haddock kedgeree, English crumpets with Fortnum and Mason signature jams and side it with Fortnum and Mason’s famous custom blended teas for a special meal out.

On entirely the other end of the spectrum, you can have a superb budget friendly breakfast at Pret a Manger. They serve great coffee, croissants, pastries, muffins, oatmeal, bagels, yogurts, juice, and fresh baguettes with butter. This high end sandwich shop is known for using top of the line ingredients.

So you see, it is entirely possible to find something to please almost any palette and pocketbook for breakfast in London!
