Super Hero Party Theme

Your child is having their next birthday party soon and this year they want to be a superhero! So what kind of superhero theme parties can you have for the birthday party? Here are a few of the most popular superheroes and how you can use them to make a super birthday party for your little hero.

Super Man or Super Girl

Perhaps the most well-known superhero of all time is Super Man. Luckily, this is also one of the easiest themes to put together for your child’s next birthday party.

The color pattern is very simple: red, yellow, and blue. Use the signature “S” logo that is featured on Superman’s chest for decorations around the room. Also print out some great Super Man or Super Girl images and hang them around the room.

Have kids dress up for this super party. Blue pants, a yellow shirt and a red cloth for a cape are the most cost effective way to create a costume for your child. You can of course find party and costume supplies for this theme almost everywhere, or check out local thrift shops and dollar stores for costume pieces.

Marvel Comics Party

The newest addition to the Disney Company’s fleet of investments, the Marvel Company has a whole world of Superheroes that your child and their guests could dress up as for their next birthday party, so we do recommend “dressup” as a theme for a Marvel Comics party.

Give suggestions on the party invitations such as The Avengers, X-Men, Wolverine, Spiderman and other Marvel Comics favorites. (Here is the Marvel site so you can check out all the cool choices for your child and her guests.)

Like the theme above, there will be a wide variety of these costumes available at party theme stores that carry costume pieces and decor.

Decorating the room also should be easy. For an economical event, get a mix of streamers in dark and bright comic book type colors (usually these are bold colors, plus black and sometimes silver)and hang them across the ceiling.

For a really fun touch, buy a stack of cheap second-hand comic books in bulk and hand out to the invited guests ahead of time. Ask them to wrap the guest of honor’s gifts in these pages!

The Avengers

The release of the newest Avengers movie this spring is huge. Kids and adults love the updated version of The Avengers, which features superheroes from the original classic series.

Colors for an Avengers party are blue, red and black. Choose streamers, balloons, cups and plates in these colors.

If you’d like to have your child and his or her guests dress up for the party, here is the list of 2012’s S.H.I.E.L.D:

  • Captain America
  • Iron Man
  • Black Widow
  • Thor
  • The Incredible Hulk
  • Hawkeye

Invite guests to dress up too. Make sure you note on the invitations that guests should come dressed as an Avengers hero or villain (those are fun too!). You might also want to buy inexpensive capes, masks and other costume pieces and have a dress-up and playacting area for the party.

A great activity for this party is to have an obstacle course. Set up challenging but safe items in your back yard for guests to jump over, climb under and veer around. You can use any items you already have in your house or garage – boxes, tires, pillows, etc.

Your Child’s Favorite Superhero

If the choices seem overwhelming, make things easier: ask your child what superhero she wants for her party theme. Does she love Batman, Bat Girl and Poison Ivy? Wonder Woman? Spider Man? Make her favorite hero the highlight of the party and arrange your party décor, games and foods around her choices.

Regardless of which superhero theme you choose for your child’s birthday, it is essential they learn something here: the one thing that all superheroes have in common is that they care about the feelings of others. The best way he can do this is to behave properly and be respectful of other to set an example for the younger children. It’s a great way to celebrate the superhero in everyone.
