Location, Location, Location – The Social Media Dude
Location, Location, Location
Realtors abuse this word like crazy — and hell, why not? If it weren’t for location, then homes simply would not sell. But what about social media?
Facebook jumped into the whole location based social media war yesterday by unveiling their own little product, Facebook Places. You can view this on your Apple phone or your browser by pointing yourself to http://touch.facebook.comand then clicking on the “locations” tab.

Once you click on that, you will be led to a page that will list all the locations near you, whereby you can click and announce that you exist in that location. This will then post back to your Facebook profile and announce to your friends.
This is a pretty big move for Facebook. After seeing all these other sites (Yelp, Foursquare, GoWalla, MyTown, Where, etc…) get into the whole location-based craze, they probably wanted a piece of the pie too. Word has it that they spent eight months on this feature alone.
Will it work? Who knows. What privacy issues exist here? Who knows.
What questions I ask relating to this are, how can a business use this to their advantage in announcing their social media presence?
